Filming Blog for Music Video

I did not film for my music video yet. I decided to film my blog around Thanksgiving break as it would connect with the topic of my video better. The topic of my film is to have a friend and family split screen. There will be parallel edits with two different families and people coming together from different places. I feel like doing it during Thankgiving break would lead to more genuine feelings and happiness then during it on a regular day. I also want to film went December begins. Around that time is when the majority of people are together due to holidays. This will create the best atmosphere for happiness, entertainment and togetherness.

I wanted to also prepare more for my music video. I have a feeling that at the end of my filming, there will be a lot of raw footage that will to be dumped. Since I will be going around a lot during this time, there will be many jump cut from one area to another. Since multiple events will be happening during the time I am filming, I am going to a time lapse if it can fit into the film or mix in with the jumpcuts. There will also be filters needed for the music video to make it more appealing. The film was already decided to be only a short amount of time(1:02 minutes). The video will not fully be a family themed video. I hope for the video to have a fun energy and be engaging for the viewers.

The actors for my music video will be family members and friends who have slconsented to be apart of my film for this class. Making sure that all the actors that are needed for my film are prepared and will be in it. I do not want any of my actors quitting or having other plans when needed. Making the film be apart of family events seemed like the correct choice for me as it will be easier to handle and feel more comfortable and endearing for me to do. I'm still a little bit unconvinced that the song "Dancing Queen" by ABBA will be able to give this video the energy that I want. If the song be changed then that could be thought about in a later stage than now. The song and the video haven't been connected yet so there's still time. I'm not planning to film into any major organizations where you need permission to film. But if it's a last resort, then I will be calling to ask for permission

Storyboard for Music Video

In our storyboard for the music video, we will be playing the song "Dancing Queen" by ABBA for the duration of 0:00-1:02 minutes. There will be a split in scenes to different locations so it will probably lead to parallel editing when finishing filming. In the beginning of the of the film in the prospects of the storyboard, the song will start and the will be a fade out. My friend and I will be hanging out but she was very sad. With the music, I will try to cheer her up by singing the lyrics, "See that girl, watch that scene, digging, the dancing queen". Seeing that she is still sad, she and I will travel around to see if that will cheer her up by singing the lyrics, "See that girl, watch that scene, digging, the dancing queen". This will create a rising point in the music video. Seeing that she is still sad, she and I will travel around to see if that will cheer her up. We begin to walk under the sun. While walking, we begin to laugh and and fun in the calming atmosphere.

Then when arriving back inside the house, her mood has brightened and creating a better atmosphere for the scene. I then sit down on a chair to sing the music in front of her. She and I will then begin to sing together with family and friends. This will bring out the feelings of togetherness into the song. The end of the song will, if possible, include a small montage of moments of us goofing off and bring out a sense of deep friendship and family. The montage will be perfectly planned and blend in with the spotlights and overall production of the music video. Also since we are filming around the time of Thanksgiving and Christmas, I hope the the film will have a very endearing feeling. This film will have a youthful feeling and show feelings of being together with those you care about in a beautiful way for people to see and understand.

For this film, I will mainly be filming with friend and family who I had gained permission to film. If one of the places that we are going needs to have me called them to film, I will. If I do not gain the necessary allowance, then I will not be filming in that area. We will mostly be filming on places owned by family members who I have already asked gained to access to do the music video. The editing for this film will be done cleanly since we have a right amount of time to be able to finish and redo shots if needed. I hope that with the editing, will be able to still make it the music video be able to perfectly fit so it looks like a natural video. The lighting will be luminous as he want to have a youthful feeling. There will also be plenty of colors the mix well so it could off a sense of creativity along the the production of the film. As I have said before, the filming of the music video will most likely have two productions as there will be many different settings and we most likely won't be around each other as much for the music video production so we decided to do this then edit them so they are connected in the film. This is one of the reasons that we will be using parallel editing and cross-cuttings to give the music video better quality.

Planning Blog for Music Video

Location:One of the many locations will be at Gaby's house. The locations for the video will be spontaneous.
Health safety: For safety, we will have everything prepared. If the location we need has to have permission to be able shoot each scene.
Props: There will be no props as we want our commercial to look unorganized but we will have a variety of events happening so there will be a lot of improvising.
Costumes: there will be no actual costumes. We will have create an teenage aura for our music video.

Schedule:
11/14/2019-Blog Due: Song choice, genre convention research of song
11/20/2019-Planning Blog: location list, schedule, storyboard
11/25/2019-Filming Blog #1
12/2/2019-Filming Blog #2
12/9/2019- Music video due at the end of class
12/11/2019-CCR due to class email

The schedule may change in the future or be delayed. We have already chose what song we wanted to do, but there may be a possibility of switching if there is a better song to be integrated into our music video. I want to film the commercial in a careful mannerism so nothing will be messed up and everything will already be prepared.

Research Comventions and Codes of Music Video

After finishing our commercial, I am getting ready to do the music video project. My partner and I have gotten better at understand the concepts of media after as we were doing the commercial. The only thing that I feel needs to get better is the camera angles for me.Preparing for the project was fairly okay, as we knew what we wanted to do, but I know what is should work on for future projects. I should work on making the camera more steady and making the angles of filming more appealing to the audience. I also need to know better ways to edit the film so completing the project would be easier. Since the partner I had for the commercial isnt hear today, I will be the one picking out what to do for the music video. Whether or not I will have a partner for the music video will vary.
The song that I will be doing for the music video will be "Dancing Queen" by ABBA. I switched the original song to this song is a classic pop song. It's easy to dance to and very catchy. Making a commercial for this song would be very easy to do. The location will vary. As I want the music video to be like a journey/road trip to get a sense of adventure just the song. Since I can't do the full song, I will pick the best and catchiest part for the music video. There will be no costumes for the music video as I don't think it will look very good with what I have planned for the video. The angles the I'm mostly going to do are pan, trunk shot, junp cuts, and cross-cuttings. I would do a sound bridge, a fade in/ burn out, and a graphic match.
The lighting for the video will be luminous. There will be transitions and splits in the music video to make it more eyes catching but we will make it a clean cut. There will be filters so it can have a rock and roll touch to it while editing. Friends and family will be in the video if they want to be in it. The song with be over sound of the film because it would be better to have your music video like that. I hope the song creates no problems and if it does then the song will have to be changed to the a Beatles song. I have not thought of a backup song yet but, I know that I will be from the Beatles as they are a band that that could be listened to for many generations.

Editing Process 2

When we started at the last blog, it was mainly about what we did before we got to actually start editing. It was a easy process to edit and it will be explained in this blog. When filming was completed, it was important to start to edit the film we already created. So we started to get the film that was already on the camera and move that to the computer. By doing that with the SD card, we could start using the editing program on this computer. There are laptops for the  class because it makes it easier work on the commercial. The program on the computers that are provided on this computer aren't as good.

The computers that are given to us to use in class are very hard to use because they are very outdated and slow. I made sure to use my computer as it had a well built program. The program on our laptop is a way easier program to use. It makes editing simple and I had no trouble doing it. We first started with the three videos that we used and trimmed the parts we wanted. The film is only 30 seconds so we had to take from the three videos we made. To make this process better I had split the raw film into needed parts so it would be easier to merge when completed. We took the most important parts from the film and trimmed it into 30 seconds which is what took the longest time.

Most of the footage that we took we didn't need for the film.It was needed to make it all look like it was transitioning. We had to make sure it was all on the same day to have sure all the film for when Gaby was  was wearing all the same clothes so the scenes weren't looking weirdly put together. I created the film into MP4. It took a lot of time to transition the film into mp4 so our group to  share it with our teachers. It has to make their software so we did that so they can open it. Splitting everything into equal format always was something we had to focus on doing to make sure the film looks the way it needed to look.
